My first real exposure to professional astronomy came in the form of a summer teaching internship, in which I had the opportunity to introduce astronomy to advanced high school students, many of whom had no prior experience with the subject. For me, it was immediately clear how beneficial public outreach is, and how incredibly gratifying it can be to share my love for astronomy with others. I strongly believe that it's the responsibility of all astronomers to help cultivate the next generation of scientists, and to ensure that the field is more representative of our population in the future.
Some of my teaching and outreach experiences include:
- Spring 2019 - Spring 2020 -- Head Lab Instructor, UMass Astronomy 100/101 Lab Sections (Amherst, MA).
- Summer 2018 - Summer 2019 -- Head Instructor and Astronomy Course Coordinator, UMass Pre-College Program (Amherst, MA).
- Spring 2018 and Fall 2018 -- Guest at "Meet an Astronomer" Day, Springfield Prep Charter School (Springfield, MA).
- Fall 2015 - Fall 2018 -- Lab Teaching Assistant, UMass Astronomy 100/101 Lab Sections (Amherst, MA)
- Summer 2013 -- Astronomy Teaching Intern, St. Paul's School Advanced Studies Program (Concord, NH).
